You are being asked to participate in a research study. Elle Gilbert, of the University of Memphis, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is in charge of the study. They are being guided by Miriam van Mersbergen. The purpose of this research is to ascertain current pedagogical practices as they relate to adolescent singers and the assignment of voice part.

You are being invited to participate because you have completed at least a bachelor’s level degree in music education, vocal performance, or voice pedagogy. You must have experience teaching solo voice or choirs. If you are in the supplemental population, you are a voice specialized SLP who has worked with young singers. You will be one of a large number of subjects to participate in the research.

Should you agree to participate you will be asked to answer several questions, a majority of which are multiple choice. There are several free response questions. All questions are optional. Your participation should take about 15 minutes. Participating in this study is completely voluntary and if you decide to participate now, you may change your mind and stop at any point. You may choose not to answer specific questions.

As a participant in this research study, there may not be any direct benefits for you. There is a risk that you may find some of the questions to be sensitive and/or cause emotional discomfort. You will not be paid for taking part in this study
