Thank you for your interest in attending the 9th Annual Strategic Code Enforcement Management Academy (SCEMA) on Thursday, June 12  and Friday, June 13, 2025 in Memphis!  SCEMA 2025 will be held at the University of Memphis School of Law.

This year, in addition to our two-day Academy, we are giving teams the option to participate in two complimentary programs included in your SCEMA registration.  Teams will have the option to participate in a community tour on Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2025 and to send one or more representatives to participate in a special receivership roundtable being hosted by the Vacant Property Receivership Consortium that will begin on Tuesday evening, June 10th and run through the conclusion of the SCEMA community tour on Wednesday, June 11th.

SCEMA accepts applications from cities across the country seeking to strengthen code enforcement operations through enhanced coordination and collaboration with a wide array of community partners.  Our curriculum is designed to focus your team on the core principles and best practices of strategic code enforcement as tailored to the distinctive priorities and challenges in your city.

We encourage you to bring a diverse team of representatives from local institutions, departments, agencies, and organizations to participate and work together in the Academy.  Past SCEMA teams have included, among others, code enforcement leaders, attorneys, judges, elected officials, fire and police personnel, CDC directors, data experts, and non-profit partners.  We are happy to help you consider who might be a part of your city’s team.

The deadline to submit your team’s application to SCEMA is April 30, 2025.  Teams submitting their SCEMA application by March 31, 2025 will receive an early bird registration rate of $300 for each team member.  The registration rate for teams submitting their SCEMA application between April 1, 2025 and April 30, 2025 will be $350 per person.

Teams will be notified about selection for participation in SCEMA within five business days of application submission.  Invoices for registration will be issued at the time of selection notification.

For questions or assistance with completing your SCEMA 2025 application, please email Joe Schilling (jschilling@urban.org) or Danny Schaffzin (Danny.S@memphis.edu).  To learn more about SCEMA, you can also visit www.strategiccodeenforcement.com.
